Our JPL Program

Our JPL Program

The Junior Premier League (JPL) is a player development focused league, driving innovation and ensuring every player has a premier experience. The League is designed to provide competitive opportunities for development and advancement in youth football.

Playing Environment

We endeavour to create an environment where development comes first. Competition can be fun and players do enjoy winning but we focus our ethos on enabling players to express themselves without fear of making mistakes and without fear of the result.

Game Day

Every player selected for a matchday squad will play at least 50% of the game.  Games are played over four periods of 20 minutes each, this helps create a window for coaches to work with players to enhance their individual performance and means we can allow players to express themselves without constantly receiving touchline instruction.

What our season looks like

Pre-season training will start in July, each team train twice a week with matches played usually on a Saturday morning.  The first JPL fixture of the season is usually on the first Saturday in September and run through until April.

We play all our home games on 3G Astro and training is either on 2G or 3G Astro ensuring a quality playing surface to enhance player experience and be weather independent.

Coaching Standards

Our Head of Football Gary Green holds a UEFA B coaching license and has had experience coaching at the top-levels of football.  Team Head Coaches hold or are working towards at least a UEFA C license ensuring a high level of coaching standards across the whole program.

Club Management

Taunton Town Youth partner with 360Player for a wholistic club management approach.  360Player takes care of all scheduling, registrations, payments, communication and game stats.

Request a Trial

If you fancy trying out of one of our JPL teams, we hold open, no obligation trials all season.  You’ll be invited to a series of training sessions where our coaches will assess the player and of course the player and parent can assess us!

Our JPL Open Sessions

Throughout the season all of our teams hold open sessions.  These sessions are the perfect opportunity for any player who would like to test themselves in our welcoming but competitive program.

Sessions are totally no obligation on both sides and there is no cost to attend.

The sessions are typically held during a normal JPL training night which means that you will get to play with players who are currently in the JPL match squad.  Furthermore you will be coached and seen first hand by the Head Coach of your relevant age group.
